Firefighter Accident Insurance
Benefits for accident, injury, sickness and disability insurance benefits for volunteer Fire Departments
MEBA has partnered with Provident Agency of Pittsburgh, PA. Provident began serving fire departments in 1928. They recognized the importance of doing more to protect the financial security of fire fighters. They were the first to offer a policy for blanket Accident and Health insurance. With their innovative approach and quality service, they are an industry leader in protecting volunteer fire fighters. We are proud to follow in their footsteps with a uniquely Canadian program.
Group Life Insurance is available to the department for all participating members. The premium is a blended rate based on the average age of participating members. All members within a given benefit class will be insured for the same amount. Participating members are determined from the annual roster provided by the organization. From age 17 to age 75. There are NO medical exams or questions. Coverage is “convertible”, which means members can take it with them when they leave. The minimum coverage amount is $10,000 and the maximum is $50,000.
Group Critical Illness Insurance fills the gap for the Volunteer Firefighter where Worker’s Compensation, On and Off Duty Accident Coverage, and Life Insurance do not. Critical Illness Insurance pays a lump sum of cash upon the diagnosis of a covered illness. Critical Illness Insurance is available to the department for all participating members.
Cancer & Cancer Reoccurrence, Stroke, Heart Attack, Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery, Heart Valve Replacement, Severe Burns, Occupational HIV Infection plus 17 other illnesses
Benefit Option: $5,000 to $25,000
